And where do you get your halal vanilla essence from? I can only find the alcoholic versions here. Maybe I can just use almond flavour.

I need stodge.

I hope the damsons get jammed up soon! Honestly, if you jam 7 trees worth you wont need to buy jam for a year. Goto ebay for discount bulk orders for jars - if you're in the UK I can recommend these people:
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/freeman-and-harding-the-jar-people/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05025492709452476763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6348662971403602237.post-896122402014151712010-09-29T04:23:15.239+01:002010-09-29T04:23:15.239+01:00Salaam sister!! I am happy to see youre still crafting/thrifting/ reading and playing!
I cant wait to see more pictures. Time to get baking since fall is here.. Heres a delicious recipe I just tried on the weekend, its some sort of cocoa crisp cake:

Ingredients

* 1 cup butter
* 2 cups white sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1 cup sour cream
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
* 2 tablespoons melted butter
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Mix in 2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt. Spread 1/2 of batter in the prepared pan.

3. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl mix 1/3 cup flour, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and cinnamon. Sprinkle cake batter with 1/2 the filling. Spread second half of batter over the filling, and top with remaining filling. (i just put it all on top and a small amount of cocoa)

4. Bake 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06361726953566021745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6348662971403602237.post-7395168398167661752010-09-28T22:07:32.762+01:002010-09-28T22:07:32.762+01:00Asalaamu alaikum sis, i just popped over and want ...Asalaamu alaikum sis, i just popped over and want to say a big thankyou for the jam making post - i made the black butter (basically - apple jam) recipe which was in the most recent edition of country living mag, and its very nice.
