Last year, on the 1st March we had one solitary daffodil making a brave effort, leading the charge of the bright brigade, whilst the rest took a few weeks to follow suit. This year? Well, take a look for yourself ... the garden has been sprung for the last week or so....
Warm sunshine, no need for coats, the heating has stayed off during daylight, daylight hours quickly elongating, and if any confirmation that the season is a-changing was needed, bird song - urgent and incessant, and two dunnocks spotted, together, already paired, flitting from tree to tree searching for their new nesting site.
Time for new things, new rhythms, new colours and new needs of house and home.
This sweet moment is almost worth the brain damage wrought by winter. Almost.
Now. Let flower-buying season commence!

ReplyDeleteI'm just so thankful that the sun has made it through the gloom! I thought February was going to kill me...
ReplyDeletegreat pics! also, loved the pencil cases you made for your boys, would love to know where the fabric is from.
ReplyDeleteThe letter pouches? They've been in my stash for years. The choo choo train I sourced on eBay on sale and the grey one with little trucks was a Japanese print from Etsy. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
