Everyday Beauty :: 17

Before we look at the beauty I found today, or rather yesterday because if you think I get up this early to write a blog post when I can't even see straight due to caffeine withdrawal you are wrong, I thought I'd just let you know that these images are ALL close ups of little bits of pretty throughout my home. My home is small, cramped and littered with lego, laundry and paper. And dust. And little bits of crunchy things on the carpet which, to be honest, I have not looked to see what that consists of in case I don't like what I find. I like to think it's unicorn rainbow droppings, but could well be toe-nail clippings mixed with mud. I don't ask because I don't want to know.

I squint a lot around my home. It is the visual equivalent of sticking ones fingers in ones ears and going LALALALA OK? These pretty little things are what I focus on to stay sane, because staring at the mold on my water pipes (not a euphemism, matron) or the corner of my bedroom would push me over the edge.

So, in the spirit of honesty, today's beautiful thing is covered in grease, steam and dust and I cropped the image so you wouldn't see the filthy door frame next to it because it's just so much easier than actually cleaning it.

Carry on.

my so called life everyday beauty

  1. A life lived well enough that grubby door frames and unidentified crunchy things in carpets happen but don't matter is a beautiful thing too x

  2. Thanks for all the beauty AND the honesty. OF COURSE it's unicorn rainbow droppings! (Unlike in my kitchen cupboard, where it's definitely a mouse.)
    Keep on keeping on. Spring is surely on its way.

  3. Oh but they DOOOOO matter.... I can only take it for so long before I go bat-sh*t crazy.

    Mice? Ha! We have rats gnawing at the garden door... fuuun. I hope spring will be good to us....

  4. I hear you... I need to start creating those oases in my house to quench my visual thirst every time I can. As of now the only decorations on my walls are the collective scribbles my kiddos have made throughout the years.
    No regrets though...

  5. I think part of it is cabin fever this time of year too!

  7. It's never finished, never all at once. I'm happy if people leave my house uninfected ;)

  8. Ohhhhh, I can soooo relate to this!!! "Cleaning your home while the children are growing is like shoveling snow when it's still snowing!!" I heard that one a long time ago and it's so true!!! : )
