There is no mistaking what time of year it is. By mid-afternoon crazy light starts casting long shadows and gloom descends. We're playing by lamplight again. The blankets are on the knees. Where once I would be out fussing over the vegetables or flowers, that time is now spent on knitting. With hot tea. Of course.

It's a smidgen off a quarter to winter. The light tells me so... and as much as my delicate mental balance blanches at the thought of a whole season ahead filled with gloom, I hope the cosy that we make and find in our days kinda makes up for it...
