Thieves, Liars, Murderers

This dead boy looks like my son. What crime did he commit to be punished like this?!

“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.”
– Martin Luther King

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the army was prepared for a 'significant widening' of its Gaza offensive"... because, let's face it, it's election time and nothing makes a Jew more popular than when he kills a wog child. Netanyahu, described by world leaders as a 'liar' and who admit that even they can't stand him...

You are thieves. You are liars. You are murderers. Protest it as much as you like. Facts are facts. You are worse than animals.

  1. Oh Debbie, I hear you! It never ceases to amaze me that Israel has gotten away with ALL that it has inflicted upon its Palestinian neighbours over the last 60 odd years. It is positively Orwellian that a country can be summarily divided into two and then one half can proceed to behave and talk as if the other half have no right to be there. It leaves me ranting at the television. I completely agree that there needs to be a complete severance of the debate - the outrage - from religion. It's nothing to do with religion - just as some humans have astoundingly short memories (excuse me Israel - but just why did the western powers feel obliged to support the creation of Israel after WW2?!?!?!? Just where were your people living for the 2000 years before this - oh that's right, they had no homeland. Gee, I wonder if the Palestinians might have been rather fond of theirs) but that a faith which finds its beginnings in the same place, same books, same prophets, same God as its so called enemy, can be twisted so successfully to hide the crass political and economic reasons behind military occupation and genocide. It is heartbreaking and infuriating. I don't know about Syria though - I wonder whether Israel's chosen its timing very carefully - the one force in the middle east who could be counted on to react is now so very preoccupied with its own troubles. In the meantime, my heart and thoughts are with the peace-loving people on both sides who simply want to live their lives, love their families and share this earth we have been given.

  2. Yes, Amen to that. And we must not be forced and manipulated to play bit parts in their agenda either - I refuse to play the game of divide and conquer and be polarised into a dichotomy of hatred. I do not demonise anyone, Muslims and Jews have always lived side by side in peace - the biggest Jewish community before Israel was Morocco, but this is wrong no matter which way you spin it.

  3. It drives me mad. Angry, angry mad that we (the west) sit here and ignore the fact that this is going on, or worse condone it

  4. It makes me sick that people can read about this, watch it on the tv and still spew the official Israeli propaganda ...

  5. I wanted to let you know that after I saw this blog post we decided to donate what we would have spent on Christmas gifts to the Gaza appeal. It may not be much, but its a small step to not feeling so useless.

  13. I alighted upon your post on spinning and was about to comment when I read upwards... and now I'm rather lost for words. It puts any moaning and whinging about my own little life right into perspective...
    Sad, sad, sad.
