2009. And soon it will be 2012. It beggars belief. I have made several lap blankets like these for people I know and love, but as yet never sold one. (I did try, but after making two declared I couldn't part with them and kept them. I'm not very good at this am I??). I still have Tif's words ringing in my ears everytime I make another to give away ("have you ever considered selling these sweeties? your lap blankets are truly beautiful and i find myself in quite the lusty state when i look upon them :)") - how is that for praise and encouragement?! I actually never even thought about making these to sell until this moment, but I think 2012 is going to be the year I make a blanket and do not keep it. Yes. It is a challenge the like of Mount Everest to me - to place a lovely doily on a vintage fabric and give it away... but to put it in a shop and let it be inspected by the world? It will test my doily-loving mettle for sure.
But really, three years in the making? It's time, isn't it?

I love your lap blankets! I understand your inability to part with them. I am a selfish knitter myself, I can't get myself to part with any of my woolies ;o)
ReplyDeleteIt's a sickness, isn't it? I mean, how many blankets can one family own?? Glad I'm not the only selfish crafter ;-)
